Frequently Asked Questions

Why is DXA better than Other methods of measuring body fat?

DXA sometimes referred to at DEXA is a medical grade piece of equipment. It is the only body fat testing equipment approved by the FDA to measure body fat, visceral fat, bone density and more.

How is this scan any different than a Hydrostatic Test?

Our scan takes place in the comfort of your gym clothes. We measure so much more than body fat percentage. Your report will have over 50 data points to help guide you from where you are to where you want to be. Including your regional body composition, resting metabolic rate, bone density, visceral fat, lean muscle mass, and body fat percentage.

I heard that the radiation is unsafe, Is it Safe?

The radiation level that you will be exposed to is equal to eating 4 bananas. It is also less than the natural background radiation that occurs each day. This radiation level is so low (0.001 microsieverts) that the technician operating the equipment never leaves the van.

Can I eat or drink the day of the scan ?

Yes, Ideally you will have normal hydration levels the day of your scan. Water is not bone mineral content or fat so DXA read it as lean tissue.

What is Visceral Fat?

Visceral fat if the fat that is in and around your organs. This is the most dangerous fat and has linked to heart disease and Type two diabetes. A DXA scan is the only measurement system found in the fitness space that measures visceral fat.
